How long Thanksgiving break is depends on the school district but is usually a full school week (and two weekends) off or three school days plus the one weekend. Since Thanksgiving is always on a Thursday many school districts will start the break on Wednesday, the day before Thanksgiving. However, it is also becoming more common for districts the give students the entire week off from Monday to Friday.
The school district in Illinois that I teach at gives us Wednesday, Thursday (Thanksgiving), Friday, and the weekend off.
The school that my own kids go to (also in Illinois) have the entire week off for students.
Not a bad deal for students but the teachers at their school have parent conferences on Monday and Tuesday of Thanksgiving week so they still have to work those two days and then are off Wednesday to Sunday.
