ABOUT ME

Hello, my name is Allen. I’m currently teaching 8th grade science and math for a public school district in a western suburb of Chicago. I started teaching in 2004 and have spent time teaching science, math, and social studies in 6th and 7th grades as well.

I have spent several years coteaching, working with EL students, differentiating, and managing PLC meetings among other things.

During my career I’ve had a lot of accomplishments and experiences. Below are some of the ones that I take pride in most.

  • I graduated from Lewis University (great school if you are looking for one in the Chicago area) with a M. Ed. in Instructional Technology.
  • Was named a member of the Discovery Educator Network on behalf of Discovery Education. (see the nice plaque I received)
  • Member of the NSTA (National Science Teaching Association). If you teach science I highly recommend you join to stay up to date with the world of science teaching
  • Member of the science curriculum and planning committee for the school district I work for.
  • Acted as the role of Team Leader
  • Coached and/or managed numerous after school extracurricular activities such as soccer, chess club, and computer club.
  • Member of a new teacher interview panel which influenced hiring decisions.

One more thing, I have an American Toad in my classroom!
