Do High Schools Have Dorms?

No, high schools do not have dorms. High school students attend school each day and return home after the school day, typically around 3pm. This is true for public high schools throughout the United States. The only exception to this is boarding schools, which are very rare. Colleges and universities have dorms but that is after high school.

High schools are for students that live within a community and they are able to go to and from school daily by bus, walking, bike riding, or by car.

Take a look at this article I wrote for an overview of high school grades and ages.

There is no need for there to be dorms.

Plus, students in high school range in age from 14 to 18 and are not ready to live in a dorm yet.

The possibility of living in a dorm happens after high school if they decide to go to college.

I can’t imagine how odd it would be if high school students lived in dorms, they are just way to young and immature to handle that much responsibility.

What Are Dorms?

Dorms are community style buildings with many small rooms for sleeping in.

Usually dorms share a kitchen and bath space.

Think of dorms as small bedrooms that share a big kitchen or eating space and bathrooms.

Like I said earlier, dorms are common in colleges for students that decide to live on campus.
