At 12 years old you are either in sixth or seventh grade in the United States. Some students turn 12 during sixth grade while others don’t turn 12 until the summer months or during seventh grade. A student can be 12 years old and either be in sixth or seventh grade. In many school districts sixth and seventh grade is considered middle school/junior high.
