Children in 8th grade in the United States are 13 or 14 years old. They enter 8th grade at 13 years of age and leave at 14 years of age under normal circumstances. Students in 8th grade belong to what is called middle school or junior high school.

Middle schools and junior high schools in the United States are usually 6th, 7th, and 8th grades or just 7th and 8th grades.
This will depend on the school district and state though.
Students that complete 8th grade will move on to high school. High school is grades 9, 10, 11, and 12.
