How Old Are 1st Graders?

In the United States first graders are 6 or 7 years old. Students will often start first grade at 6 years of age and complete it at 7 or turn 7 during the summer months when school is not in session. First grade is considered elementary school and in is the first year of elementary school after kindergarten.

I put together a table below showing the grades and corresponding ages of students in grades kindergarten to fifth to help you out.

If you are looking for an overall idea of how old students are in second grade then you will find that information in this article I wrote.
