Teachers can get paid during the summer, they have a choice. Teachers have the option (in most school districts) to collect their salary during the school year months only (usually around 9 months) or spread their salary throughout the entire calander year (12 months) which includes the summer months.
I conducted a survey of 240 school teachers and found that 76% of teachers received their salary throughout the entire calander year (12 months). Only 24% received their salary during the school months only (9 months).

It’s up to the teacher (usually) to decide whether they would like to receive their salary during the school year only or during the school year and the summer.
Most school districts give their teachers the option of getting their salary during the school year only or spread out through the entire year, including summer.

Teachers Getting Paid During The School Year Only
If a teacher opts to receive their salary during the school year only they can obviously expect to receive bigger pay checks because the salary is being paid during a time period of 9 months instead of 12months.
If your bad with money and have a hard time saving then this option might be a challenge for you.
You might find yourself in the middle of the summer with no money because you spent everything you earned during the school year.
The other option, the one I chose, is probably going to be better for you.
Teachers Getting Paid During The School Year And Summer (12 months)
Many school districts will give you the option of getting paid during the summer months as well as teh school year.
This is the option that I picked.
I like it because you earn the same amount of money as someone that is paid only during the school year months but the pay is spread out to include the summer months.
It’s a little less per paycheck because you are getting your pay over a 12 month period versus a 9 month period.
How Do Most Get Paid?
Based on the data from the survey I did (above) it looks like most teachers choose to get their salary spread out throughout the school year and summer months.
Of the 240 teachers that were surveyed 76% of them preferred getting paid all year. Only 24% choose getting paid during the school year months only.
